For this work, I looked for 12 people to help me with the preparation. I asked them to write down a question that they most wanted to know, which must be a question that could be answered with YES or NO. Then, the person that asked the question and I would hold a pen together and move it around unconsciously on a paper with printed YES and NO on it.
I considered it not only as a game but also as part of the desensitization therapy for treating anxiety for haphephobia. My hand was very shaky when I held the pen with the first person. I had to take deep breaths in between before I walked to the next person. The different sensations of touch overlaid on my hand. When I held the last person’s hand, the feeling of the first person’s hand still lingered on my skin.
